IAN: February 2, 2025 - One month down [1]

We take the rest of the year one day at a time, doing what we can to preserve the rule of law.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Well, this is satire, but still …. Renters in PDX needing to mask 24/7, even when alone at home? And their cats? I repeat: this is satire, but still …. With all the bizarrities going on at the moment, and the smallness of the ‘satire’ label, this did not really qualify as funny to me — especially since it came from an email I use for local news and have always found to cover real stories.

The strange link between obesity and corruption.

Archaeologists have found another commander among the terracotta soldiers in China. This makes the tenth one out of the roughly 8000 statues that exist.

Cocker’s Arithmatick: how Benjamin Franklin learned math.

Researchers and ocean engineers are building an underwater habitat in Great Britain. The effort is designed to see if people studying the ocean can live underwater long enough for lengthy uninterrupted research.

From Allrecipes: vintage casseroles.

Predictions from 1925 regarding 2025.

From Fix the News: 86 stories of progress made in 2024.

As of last Tuesday, I’ve got the bathroom more-or-less clean. Even mopped the floor. The hallway is clear. Wednesday through Saturday, the living room, which involves trash, recycling, a lot of clutter and quite a few books. Next week, the dining area and kitchen, which involves a hideous number of books and where to put some groceries. In and amongst, the bedroom, which won’t take much but I need to work up some enthusiasm for dealing with laundry.

I’m pretty sure I have all the tax forms I need for 2024 at this point. Now all I have to do is make sure I have them in hard copy, and see what the news is regarding how much I owe or not.

Did anybody else notice that President Biden, among the last things he did, commuted Leonard Peltier’s sentence to home confinement? Since he’s supposed to be let go home in February, I will wait to celebrate till then — FOTUS will try to cancel this if he can, I’m sure.

Personally, I don’t believe Mr. Peltier killed those agents — and I am absolutely certain that he did not get a fair trial. The man should have been completely exonerated years ago.

Love you guys!
