IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

Good morning, my friends. Welcome to another Saturday morning. Congratulations for making it through another week, and thank you to all of you who make a point to stop by and see what I am upto. And to those of you who will not have time until later? You are missed, but I also understand that everyone has lives. Take care of yourselves, and we will be here for you.
Have I mentioned lately, just how much I have come to *Love* my humblebundle.com membership? For $11,99, you get several new games a month, from triple A titles, to quirky, interesting indy titles. Last month, I found something in my bundle that I was not expecting. Along with the usual selection of games, I was also given a one month long trial subscription, to Boot.dev, At first, I dismissed it, seeing little value in it, but when someone I care for asked me to redeem it, so that she and I could go through the courses together, and hold each other accountable. At her request, I signed up, and at time of writing, I am almost 9 chapters in, that means over 60 programming lessons and projects. The course we started with, and the one I am determined to finish before my trial subscription, is the one on Python.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that learning Python, unlike the other coding languages I have tried recently is not only, fairly easy, even if there are occasionally challenges, but it also seems, very familiar to me. It wasn’t until last night that I realized why that was. When I was, very much younger… (third grade, if it matters), I spent my summer break taking daily courses in Basic, so that, in my mother’s words at the time, I...”could learn to do more with the new computer, than play games on it..” So, I spent summer break learning to write programs in basic, that would allow the computer to do my math homework for me. It was a year before people caught on to that, thanks to my Grandmother insisting the computer she bought for me, be kept in my room ,so I had unfettered use of it.
The codes are a little different of course, and times have changed in the last 40 years or so, but in the main, I am having just as much fun learning Python, as I did learning and using Basic to put one over on my mother. Boot.Dev is an expensive service to pay for, at $50 a month, but if you ever get access to a trial membership, I would certainly suggest giving it a try.
