The KDCA visual 19 River Approach is one of the most dangerous approaches in the USA. When Dulles opened the plan was to shut KDCA down, it didn’t happen because powerful men liked having an airport close in.

Bottom line the last three miles You are visual, usually in low visibility, following a river, looking for traffic, the airport, and trying to stay out of the restricted area. It ain’t fun.

Do a google on “KDCA visual 19 River Approach”, it is a wonder accidents haven’t happened more often.
