Trump no longer needs his Base - and other observations. [1]

Let’s face it — Trump will never run in another election. Either he declares himself president-for-life, or he pardons himself, retires to Mar-de-Gross, and spends the rest of his days insulting everyone else in the world. He no longer needs votes. He no longer needs voters.
He no longer needs to please them. He can indulge himself.

Trump will go after the editorial cartoonists. I’m sure he has spent the last four years grinding his teeth whenever he sees Doonesbury or This Modern World; they have been consistently anti-Trump, and, worse, funny. I’m sure he’s going to go after the newspapers and service providers that let these cartoons be distributed. It will cause outrage, but Trump loves outrage, if it is from those he hates.

The hardest part of the next four years will be the bullying. WE have seen it in big things so far — Colombia, ICE, — but we will soon see it in the little things as well. Our TV programming will change, to reflect what Trump wants to see. He will bully the networks into making changes, simply because he can. That is what bullies do, especially bullies that suddenly acquire power over others.

The most important thing now is to watch what he is REALLY doing. Trump is a master of misdirection. He says outrageous things, and, while the media pays attention to his ravings, sneaks bad things under the radar. WE have to ignore things like his cabinet picks (all of whom, I’m sure, have been picked for their value as scapegoats for policy failures), and look at things like they way he is implementing Project2025, or replacing the upper ranks of the military with men (all men!) who will carry out his orders, whether it is to secure Canada, or secure California.
