Thinking of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall
There can be no justice
without wisdom,
there can be no justice
without truth.
There can be no justice
without empathy
for humanity.
There can be no justice
without fair laws
applied fairly.
There can be no justice
without a sense of history
and a sense of the future.
There can be no justice
without a basic understanding
of the rights of the people
and all life on this planet.
There can be no justice
if money or an agenda
replaces the Constitution.
Justices, who have a short span
of time
to touch our species,
do best who rule
with kindness
with truth
and to do no harm
within the fabrics of their beings.
