Kern County Harvest done [1]

Haven’t seen a diary yet on this.
Update: yes — this article was on 1/15/25 before 47 became POTUS. But one can only imagine the fear these raids caused. As of 1/22/25 in this article:
Per this article in Ag Alert (1/15/25) instead of 30 people showing up to harvest the citrus, maybe five showed. The largest immigration operation in the area just occurred. 47 wants a quota folks. That quota are PEOPLE! Criminals deported? Sure, go ahead. But the quota is going to cause innocent people deported and question even American citizens.
Scores of farmworkers stayed home last week amid an immigration enforcement operation conducted in Kern County by U.S. Border Patrol. Immigration experts said it was the largest operation by an immigration enforcement agency in the Central Valley in years.
They were able to fulfill orders with inventory they had in cold storage but now?
The attack — that’s what I will call it — in California is intentional. 47 wants Californians to realize he’s in charge and to hell with anyone in a sanctuary state. These farm workers pay taxes. They do the jobs no one else (hear that maga’s) don’t want to do. They are NOT criminals but extremely hard working human beings.
Trumps quota is now at 1200 — 1500 per day . Put that in other perspectives. Even 1000 a day. 7000 a week. Over 350,000, if not more this year. Our taxes pay for this. He is no longer talking criminals, he is talking numbers. They will be going to the schools and get the kids when they are leaving. They will go to the churches. They were already at Home Depot in Kern County this last week.
Trump administration leadership told senior ICE officials that “each of the agency’s field offices should make 75 arrests per day and managers would be held accountable for missing those targets,”
Update: What is done but with the quota — the I-129 probably won’t hold water now. So, there is a program in place to allow the foreign nationals to work in agricultural jobs. Wonder if 47 is going to remove that program too?
The H-2A program allows U.S. employers or U.S. agents who meet specific regulatory requirements to bring foreign nationals to the United States to fill temporary agricultural jobs. A U.S. employer, a U.S. agent as described in the regulations, or an association of U.S. agricultural producers named as a joint employer, must file Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, on a prospective worker’s behalf.
There will be food shortages and food price increased. I always felt that once maga’s felt things personally, then nothing will change. Fruit, nuts and vegetables are just the start. I guess when it hits meat, potatoes, milk…..maybe they’ll wake up or will they feel entitled that they should get first dibs? It’s already eggs.
Comment or vent below.
