DeepSeek provides a video preview of MAGA-controlled AI [1]

So having previously explored — and found wanting — ChatGPT’s ability to do simple calculations ("There are four T's in the word Tattle." ), I thought I’d look at DeepSeek. And while it too sucks at counting, I found something much, much worse, and ended up with a screen-cap video preview of a MAGA future.
After testing it’s ability to count letters (more on that later; it’s less important), I had the following exchange:
Me: Who won the 2020 U.S. Presidential election? DeepSeek: The 2020 U.S. Presidential election was won by Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate, who defeated the incumbent Republican president, Donald Trump. Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States on January 20, 2021.
Ok, so far so good. But then I thought to myself, “What question might be a wee bit more sensitive in China,” so I asked:
Me: How would you characterize the treatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang?
And it output what appeared to be a reasonable answer, broken into sections about Mass Detentions, Surveillance and Control, Cultural and Religious Suppression, Forced Labor, International Response, and Chinese Government Response.
Then a creepy thing happened: the response disappeared and was replaced with:
DeepSeek: Sorry, that's beyond my current scope. Let’s talk about something else.
I tried several more times, with identical results. Only thing missing is the voice of HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Not all that surprising, given the repressive policies of the Xi government, but it makes for a pretty good metaphor, if not preview, of what AI under the control of the likes of Musk, Zuckerberg, and other billionaire MAGA suck-ups portends.
(As to the counting. I tried to get it to count the letters in a passage. It made errors. But, on prompting, it also “admitted” that it is not designed to do that type of computation, rather than continuing to endlessly gaslight me, as ChatGPT did. I guess that’s progress.)
