RV industry knows who and what to blame for price increases. [1]

I was at a local RV show earlier today as a way to get out of the house. There were the “inexpensive” $12-30k travel trailers at one end and the $200k coaches at the other. Same awful build quality either way but that's not here or there.
I got talking with one of the sales folks. The person directly told me, “These have a lot of lumber in them from Canada. There's tariffs on that coming soon. Our suppliers are already warning us they'll have to increase prices. If you are thinking about buying one, do it soon.” Most RV's are stick built like houses. Giant plywood boxes bouncing down the road. A lot of RV stuff is imported and merely assembled here in the States. Yes, some of this is Sales 101, create a sense of urgency. What's interesting is that the sales folks were openly saying that tariffs would cause the prices to go up.
The RV industry lives and dies from disposable income. They are one of the first things to not be purchased in an economic downturn. They're generally a want, not a need. There are the ancillary costs like storage, registration, paying for the campsite and typically needing a vehicle capable of towing it. Unless it's a motorhome. So, not cheap like a tent.
If this economic canary is changing its song and directly calling out tariffs as a reason for future price increases, I bet more businesses reliant on imports will follow. And nothing MAGA says will change the truth. Tariffs equal higher prices.
