My State Legislators are Inhumane [1]

Missouri Senate Bill SB 72 was introduced to further Nazify the state where I live. Missouri has a supermajority Republican legislature and a newly elected fascist R Governor.

We shouldn’t even call it the Republican party anymore. It’s the Let’s See How Much We Can Make People Suffer party.

A summary of the bill is here, just a few short paragraphs at this link. Summary SB 72

For the full text of the bill, if you are brave enough, here ya go at this link. Full Bill text

If SB 72 is passed, a $1,000 bounty can be collected by a monster who turns in an undocumented person to state authorities.

Anyone undocumented who is just existing on Missouri soil is committing a crime. What’s the consequence of this crime? Glad you asked. The following is copied verbatim from the SB 72 text

The offense of trespass by an illegal alien

under this section is a felony for which the authorized term

of imprisonment is life imprisonment without eligibility for

probation, parole, conditional release, or release except by

act of the governor or the natural death of such person.

When you see or hear the phrase “The cruelty is the point” believe it. The legislators putting this forth are sick in the head. It’s mass insanity for Republicans to think any of this is acceptable.

In a year, an immigrant worker probably pays more in local taxes than the $1,000 per head awarded to a bounty hunter who apprehends this person.

From the Wikipedia entry for Missouri and its economy:

“The agriculture products of the state are beef, soybeans, pork, dairy products, hay, corn,

poultry, sorghum, cotton, rice, and eggs. Missouri is ranked 6th in the nation for production of

hogs and 7th for cattle.”

Without cheap immigrant farm labor, Missouri’s economy would suffer. Consumers would be affected by higher prices for food. Exporting Missouri agricultural goods would be slowed due to higher production costs. Non-immigrant Americans would not tolerate the low pay and poor working conditions that immigrant workers endure.

In urban areas like Kansas City and St. Louis, roofs are replaced on houses after severe storms by immigrant laborers. Lawns belonging to businesses and homeowners are mowed by immigrants. Again, non-immigrant Americans don’t work at these jobs because the pay is too low and working conditions are intolerable.

The cruelty is just mind-boggling. Fifteen years ago, if we heard that another country was doing this, our leaders would scream about human rights violations. Would the employers of of these workers, such as Big Agra MBAs, be held liable for hiring undocumented people? Of course not, if they are White, straight, male, and of the correct Christian persuasion.

Yeah, I know. I should move to a blue state.
