More trouble in the Baltic Sea [1]

A telecommunications cable between Sweden and Latvia was damaged in the Baltic Sea on Sunday.

The damaged cable runs between Ventspils and Gotland, and the damage is believed to be in Sweden's exclusive economic zone.

The cable is managed by the Latvian state television and radio center LVTRC. According to the company, the damage to the cable is of a serious nature.

The damage was the fifth pipe or cable damage in the Baltic Sea region in just over two years.
