Felonious' has fired the first shot in his war on electric vehicles: an executive order repealing Biden's non-binding 2030 goal of 50% electric vehicles by 2030. The goal was supported by vehicle manufacturers, but performative stupid shit is key to his political strategy.
He also ordered a halt to disbursement of unspent monies earmarked for states who have presented plans to build out charging stations. Of course that raises that pesky impoundment issue again. I can only assume he means halting approval of requisite plans for eligibility. If plans have been approved, the monies are already in OMBs hands and cannot be stopped.
But wait, there's more…
in December by the EPA allowing the state to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035. That rule has been adopted by 11 other states. Trump said in his order on Monday he was seek the repeal of a waiver granted to Californiathe state to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035. That rule has been adopted by 11 other states. Trump said the EPA should terminate "where appropriate, state emissions waivers that function to limit sales of gasoline-powered automobiles."
Once again, he makes a mockery of the GOP's states rights and states as laboratories of democracy memes.
