I wonder how Joni Ernst is feeling this morning [1]

Joni Ernst, R-IA, once had “concerns” about Pete Hegseth’s suitability for the office of Secretary of Defense. “Who wouldn’t,” you might ask. Hegseth is a brute, a drunk, a thief, and a womanizer who is unfit for the office based on all those things plus the fact that he has little relevant experience. But Joni had tons and tons of attention heaped on her over the past weeks, even as she and Chuck Grassley were busy co-founding the brand new Inspector General Caucus, a bipartisan senate caucus dedicated to supporting inspector generals. The pressure campaign (or flattery campaign, or how-much-can-I-buy-your-vote-for campaign) to change Joni’s mind about Pete’s fitness for duty was successful, and Friday night Ernst voted for Hegseth. He was sworn into office early yesterday morning.
Immediately after Hegseth was sworn in, Trump fired 15 inspector generals. Since there is a law that the president has to give to Congress his reasons for firing inspector generals at least 30 days before he does so, what Trump did was illegal. Many Democrats and even some Republicans are unhappy with this development. Several of the inspectors general are planning on showing up for work Monday since Trump actions are clearly illegal. But who cares, right? Laws are for everyone else. If you don’t believe me, ask the Supreme Court.
To me, this looks like a giant, “Fuck you,” to Joni Ernst. I wonder how she’s feeling this morning.
