Trump is Attempting to Create Civil Unrest So He Can Violently Crush It. Let Us Proceed Thoughtfully [1]

It does not seem outside the realm of possibility that Trump’s provocations regarding government oversight and his demeanor in general ( bellicose, imperialist, nihilistic) are designed to bait us into doing something compulsive and ill-conceived. My feeling is this: we need to be thinking more radically, but also in ways that bring about maximum payoff, with the least damage to the cause.
At some point soon, it may require mass physical protests, but I am not so sure it is an ideal form of dissent. I am not sure it has been so for a long time. A more effective, and less immediately targetable approach, is the use of strikes. If push comes to shove, some of our larger unions may decide to get thoroughly off the Trump train-- a move that could entail shutting down whole industries. A major sector that brought Apartheid to its knees was the striking unionized mine workers ( Not Little Steven et al).
Also, mass disinvestment campaigns: moving our money to the extent possible away from Trump’s circle of rich douchebags. The point is to stir the water in the piranha tank— get the bastards fighting each other.
