Yesterday was my birthday. I’ve gone round the sun 58 times.

So, some of the highlights of my birthday week were more neuropsych testing. I also met with the lead psychologist of the office. He said that I’m probably not autistic, but he’ll wait for all the scores to come back. But he DID say I have ADD pretty bad. But not to worry cause there are meds that CAN help me. Also, shameless as I am, I made sure to plug my birthday to my kids. I also bought them cookies to celebrate.

But it worked. One of my freshman piano students baked me this little cake. At least I THINK she baked it herself. Look at how cute.

And it’s AMAZING. The cake is a really rich dark chocolate chip cake. So moist, so dense. With a really good crumb. It’s in 4 layers, with a chocolate cream in between. And the buttercream on the outside is not too sickly sweet, which I love. Even though it’s small, I can’t eat it all, so I’m going to share with a friend on Monday.

Then three of my junior choir students got me a card and a goody bag with some chips and such. They’ve been with me ever since they joined choir. It seems like forever. But their notes to me were lovely. The outside of the card had a squirrel type animal with a harmonica and it said “for your birthday I wrote a song”. Then you open up and—

Way better than any cake.

Anyway, today I did my taxes. Not bad, as always I wish my refunds were bigger, but I still get some from both fed and IN.

As far as the rest of the week…

I can’t.

I’ve been only reading selected stories here, and on my news app. Every indignity just weighs on my depression. I’ll probably still be here, reading stories, occasionally writing them in addition to writing my usual What’s For Dinner and TC Community diaries, but I’m not going to be reading as much. As I wrote before, I’ll just keep on; trying my best to be kind, doing the best I can, and being there for my kids. And staying positive for me.

Speaking of positive, I’ll end with this: Not to jinx, and I’m knocking all sorts of wood as I type, but I might be back on track weight wise. It’s been dropping for the past couple weeks, and now I’m just about to where I was before COVID shut everything down. So I have a positive to focus on.

And on that happy note, on to Tops!
