For Once, Let’s State the Obvious: The United States Government and Its Employees are both GREAT [1]

The basic goal of the United States government institutions is to help and serve citizens.
And it has been extraordinarily effective in improving the health, safety, security, quality of life, and overall happiness of the people of the US.
The way it serves citizens is practically endless. Look at an abbreviated list of government agencies. Each one was created with a purpose and to meet a specific set of needs.
Social Security Administration – Keeps ten of millions of the elderly out of poverty
FEMA – Helps in major disasters like flood, hurricanes, wildfires, etc.
Nation Institute of Health (HHS) – Determines drug safety, provides grants to medical researchers, etc.
National Weather Service (NOAA) – Predicts major weather events so people can prepare and adapt
VA – Takes care of our military veterans
DOD/Armed forces – Provides security, guards border, assesses threats, and fights wars
US Post Office – Delivers mail consistently for a reasonable price (compared to FedEx, UPS)
Medicare – Covers most healthcare costs for people over 65
Patent and Trademark Office – Keeps track of intellectual property and evaluates innovation
Department of the Interior – Does management of National parks, government land, Indian Affairs
Department of Justice - Attorney General, FBI, Counter-terrorism
Other organizations: Departments of Treasury, Transportation, Commerce, State, etc.
These are just a short list and every one of these agencies and their employees perform vital services that have an enormous positive effect on the citizens of the United States.
The US government has been defamed for almost 50 years by big businesses, wealthy people, right-wing media, politicians, and now citizens who look for a scapegoat for their problems and complaints.
The wealthy dislike taxes which reduce their wealth and power. Big corporations dislike government regulation which stands in the way of profits and their desires to become monopolies.
I have never been employed by the US government. But it seems obvious that it has become a convenient scapegoat and criticizing it is an effective way to distract people from their declining incomes, worsening quality of life, and the flagrant dishonesty of right-wing media and politicians.
But it is time to stand up for the government and its dedicated employees and admit that their detractors are in no position to criticize. The ideal world that they seek, one without government services would be a nightmare world that no one except the wealthy would want to live in.
The United States Government and its employees are great, and it is time to unequivocally support them and express our sincere appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
In countless ways, they make our lives better.
Want to make America great again? Support its institutions and their employees instead of their vociferous and well-financed detractors.
