The Tesla Salute (part 1) [1]

**I am not a financial analyst nor do I play one of TV**
Tesla’s stock (TSLA) has had a couple of up-and-down moments over the last 5 days. The biggest movements were the pre-inauguration jump of 7% and the post-inauguration correction of 6%. The jump is easy to understand. The CEO of Tesla was going to have an office in the West Wing in the White House, that’s certainly adds value to the stock. The correction confused me. One would think that there would be a serious loss of value after the CEO of Tesla stood behind the presidential seal and gave the Tesla Salute (it was NOT a Nazi salute. No matter what your eyes tell you, it wasn’t what it was). I’m not a professional analyst but I would have to think that if the CEO of a publicly traded company gave the Tesla Salute (TWICE!) on national TV that investors would be a tad uncomfortable with the future of said company. I was wrong. Turns out the Tesla Salute had nothing to do with the correction. From Yahoo Finance:
“Tesla (TSLA) stock sank as much as 3% Tuesday, reversing premarket gains on the first trading day since the inauguration of Donald Trump after the president scrapped a pro-EV policy put into place by his predecessor in an executive action late Monday.”
Sank because of Trump’s executive order to get rid of a pro-EV policy, not because of the Tesla Salute.
Well color me brown shirt, I learned something new about investors. If there is money to be made, ignore the Tesla Salute.
The value of Tesla is what makes the CEO of Tesla the wealthiest person in the world. If you oppose what the CEO of Tesla stands for or if the Tesla Salute makes you uncomfortable, don’t invest in Tesla. We as individual investors can’t make an impact on the value of Tesla, but large pension funds can, large 401k plans can. For example, The California Public Employees’ Retirement System has over $500 billion in assets. They should not be investing in companies that are led by CEO’s who give the Tesla Salute. Any state or federal investments should not be made in companies that give the Tesla Salute. If they do continue to invest in companies that have CEO’s who give the Tesla Salute then they are looking to profit off of the Tesla Salute. Call the CFO at your company and tell them not to invest employee money in TSLA. Call your governor, state rep, 401k administrator, pension fund manager, personal portfolio manager, anyone else who invests your money and tell them to sell all positions in TSLA and invest in a company who’s CEO doesn’t give the Tesla Salute.
