Cannon Fire Hits DOJ [1]

She just couldn't leave it alone. Once again, on January 21st, Judge Aileen Cannon once again put a hold to the release of the Special Counsel's report on the classified documents case, even to the small group of lawmakers that Merrick Garland was going to show, as long as they promised not to divulge any of the contents.
Her 14-page ruling was titled:
"Order granting defendants' emergency motion to preclude release of volume two of Special Counsel's Report and denying without prejudice President elect Trump's motion to intervene."
Let's just jump right to the first mistake she made, which was the title of the order. When she issued it, Trump was President, not President elect.
She described the Department of Justice's actions as "startling" and that they were willing to gamble with the rights of Walt Nauta and Carlos de Olivieri.
She thinks she's got jurisdiction in the case because after she dismissed the entire case against Trump and his co-defendants, the Justice Department appealed her ruling about the validity of Jack Smith's Special Counsel appointment. That's not how it works. You dismissed the case, you're out of it now, permanently.
The question is, when is the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals going to rule on the Justice Departments Special Counsel's validity? And when they do, will they rebuke Justice Cannon again like they have two other times? And will they recommend that the Judicial Ethics Committee investigate her?
And then she gets up on her high horse and criticizes the Justice Department.
"Prosecutors play a special role in our criminal justice system and are entrusted and expected to do justice. The Department of Justice's position on Defendants' Emergency Motion has not been faithful to that obligation." "In short, the Department offers no valid justification for the purportedly urgent desire to release to members of Congress case information in an ongoing criminal proceeding."
She pointed a barb at Merrick Garland.
"The bare wishes of one Attorney General with 'limited time' in office to comply with non-existent 'historical practice' of releasing Special Counsel reports in the pendency of criminal proceeding is not a valid reason." "In fact, there is not one instance of this happening until now."
Claiming that Garland is lame duck Attorney General and that he has no authority, alone should require a rebuke from the 11th circuit or the Judicial Ethics Committee.
The problem for Judge Cannon is that she's lying when she says there's a non-existent historical practice. There is a historical precedent. It's been done four times already in recent memory. The report on President Joe Biden's retention of classified documents, the report on vice president Mike Pence's retention of classified documents, the report on Hunter Biden and the January 6th report which was just released over her objections. Actually not over her objections, she just removed herself from the decision because she was overstepping her authority and knew that she would get smacked down by the 11th Circuit again.
So it looks like not even the chairmen or ranking members of the House and Senate judiciary committees are getting get a look at the report either.
Cannon's order is in effect for at least 30 days after the case proceedings end, but the new Department of Justice is unlikely to even continue in any fashion on the case. Trump would just issue a pardon for Nauta and Olivieri, anyway. In all likelihood, no one will ever read the report, unless a lightning bolt hits both Trump and Cannon.
