In all eventuality, I know that the other world leaders will put tariffs on American goods if Trump’s tariffs go ahead — a proportional response. But I’m just tired of that. Nothing will really change, except prices going up and more grousing. Something radical, something disproportionate has to be done.
Therefore, it may sound a bit accelerationist to say this, but I think if world leaders (esp. the rest of the G7) are to try and bring Trump to heel, they need to declare embargoes on the US, since the nation will become a worldwide destabilizing force if allowed on its current path, and the GOP needs to realize that their actions have consequences.
Simply stating disapproval at Trump’s plans will do nothing. It is time the world stood up and said to Trump: “We do not make deals with terrorists!”
