Trump's 78 Cancellations Of Biden Executive Orders [1]
['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']
Date: 2025-01-21
The first thing that Trump did after being sworn in was to rescind 78 executive orders that Joe Biden had signed. He had them all ready to disappear before signing new ones.
They're all listed right here.
Before listing all the executive orders, he declared his new policy.
"The previous administration has embedded deeply unpopular, inflationary, illegal, and radical practices within every agency and office of the federal government. The injection of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into our institutions has corrupted them by replacing hard work, merit, and equality with a divisive and dangerous preferential hierarchy."
First, they're not deeply unpopular to the majority of the United States citizens. It's only unpopular to billionaires, corporations, Republicans, MAGA, and you. MAGA doesn't even understand what diversity, equity and inclusion mean. You've just made it a red meat buzzword, that's all.
Going through all 78 would be time consuming and probably boring for you, so I'll hit the highlights. Although looking at the list it looks like all of them need to be explained. Remember, these are the ones that Biden signed, which Trump rescinded.
These were all signed beginning on January 20th, 2021.
13985: advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities through Federal government.
This is obviously a DEI casualty. Can't have none of that, now. It reads like it was supposed to help people, and it did.
13988: preventing and combating discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.
An obvious Target for Trump and his minions. There's nothing like attacking those who are already oppressed and marginalized for fun.
13990: protecting public health and the environment and restoring science to tackle the climate crisis.
Trump, of course, doesn't believe in climate change. He wants to drill, drill, baby, drill. Fossil fuels must be used at the expense of the United States and the whole world. Turn the earth into a giant greenhouse until nothing grows anymore.
14000: supporting the reopening and continuing operation of schools and early childhood education providers.
Nothing like Trump to make things more stupid again. Early childhood education is critical for development into functioning human beings. How can you say that you're against education? Trump did it right here. All they want to do is to go to a school voucher system so public schools close and private schools, especially religious-oriented, get government money.
14006: reforming our incarceration system to eliminate the use of privately operated criminal detention facilities.
This is so obvious it hurts. Trump and his cronies want to make money running private prisons. Time and time again they have been shown to be substandard and prisoners mistreated. Freezing in winter, boiling in summer, care of prisoners is secondary to making money.
14008: tackling the climate crisis at home and abroad.
Pretty obvious on this one too. Trump doesn't believe in climate change. Oil companies must be obeyed at all costs. They donated to my campaign, so I've got to give them a pass on regulations by the EPA and every other authority controlling them. Also eliminate the restrictions for oil and gas pipeline construction and all the damage they do to the environment. Watch for the Keystone XL pipeline to be reapproved and finished in short order.
14012: restoring faith in our legal immigration systems and strengthening integration and inclusion efforts for new Americans.
Integration and inclusion, we can't have that! No, we've got to send them all back to where they came from! Donald, this is about legal immigration, not illegal immigration.
14019: promoting access to voting.
Can't have those minorities voting. Those damn upstarts. They would 1000% vote for Democrats, wouldn't they? Let's make it as hard as possible so we only have white people voting. The problem is Donald, that's also rural White America that needs access to voting. Shoot yourself in the foot, again.
14020: establishment of the White House gender policy council.
Don't need to even ask why you recinded this one. You said time and time again that there's only two genders, male and female. Everyone else is an alien from outer space. And get those cat litter boxes out of the school rooms.
14021: guaranteeing an educational environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual orientation or gender identity.
Another no brainer. Same as the first, a little bit louder and a little bit worse. Gender identity is even worse than woke to you. It threatens your manhood, if you had one.
14027: establishment of the climate change support office.
Still another needed executive order with all the ones Trump rescinded when he took office the first time, and pulled out of the Paris agreement that Obama had signed.
14030: climate related financial risk.
Can't let people know that letting climate change go unabated, that the cost of doing nothing is exponentially worse then what it costs to do something.
14031: advancing equity, justice, and opportunity or Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
No. Can't give recognition to minorities. This is giving them special treatment. No, Donald, it's righting a wrong of discrimination. You just don't understand that white people have been at the top of the food chain forever, and oppression of minorities is baked into your hatred. Also known as racism and bigotry.
14037: strengthening American leadership in clean cars and trucks.
Well we know what this one is about. The green new scam, which you also call the green new deal, which doesn't actually exist. Can we say, electric?
14045, 14049, 14050: advancing opportunities for Hispanics, Native Americans, and Black americans.
Can't treat them separately. That's DEI. Can't let white people feel like they're being left out, ever.
14060: establishing the United States Council on transnational organized crime.
I would love to hear an explanation of this one. For someone who's tough on crime, why is this being rescinded? It's exactly what you were talking about; going after gangs and cartels. Explain.
14075: advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals.
Still another no-brainer. Just chose who you are. They are such a small part of the population that you don't even think about them as being voters. If it was a large population you'd be handing them the keys to the city.
14084: promoting the arts, the humanities, and museum and library services.
Art, that must be that degenerate stuff that Hitler hated. I don't think Trump knows what the humanities are. Because he has no humanity. Likewise, museums and libraries allow people to be educated. Trump loves the uneducated, and the rich.
14087: lowering prescription drug costs for Americans.
Those people that thought Trump was going to lower prices and stop inflation have another thing coming. They'll find their prescription drugs cost more than during Trump's first administration. Damn, it's going up for us too. I really want Trump to explain how higher prices for drugs save people money.
The Presidential Memorandum March 13th, 2023. Withdrawal of certain areas off the United States Arctic Coast of the outer continental shelf from oil or gas leasing.
Drill, baby, drill, baby, drill. Let's make damn sure we can suck all that oil out of the ground that we don't need to, and create environmental disasters in a climate that makes it impossible to clean up.
14096: revitalizing our nation's commitment to environmental justice for all.
Doing anything positive with the environment is absolutely against Trump's grain. He really didn't need to do this one. The Supreme Court has already done it for him with the reversal of the Chevron doctrine. The EPA is already hamstrung.
14110: safe, secure and trustworthy development and use of artificial intelligence.
He's already said in another forums that he wants the wild, wild west for artificial intelligence. No hamstrings. No controls. Here comes Skynet, Colossus: The Forbin Project and Forbidden Planet all rolled into one.
14115: imposing certain sanctions on persons undermining peace, security, and stability in the West Bank.
They're called Israeli settlers. They attack Palestinians there on a regular basis, without consequences. And, of course, for them to be there at all they had to take Palestinian land. If there is ever to be a two-state solution, the Israeli settlers are going to have to leave, just like the Palestinians had to leave Israel when it was created.
14134 to 14139: providing an order of succession in various departments and agencies. Homeland Security, Justice, Treasury, Management and Budget, and National Cyber Director.
I think the reason Trump rescinded these is that he wants to just be able to plug people into positions when he wants to, without reason or justification.
And then there are 11 presidential memorandums issued on January 3rd, 6th, 14th and 16th of 2025.
The first six are designation of officials in various departments as directors, administrators and chief executive officers. I think Biden was trying to Trump proof these departments. Council of Environmental Quality. Office of Personnel Management. Office of Science and Technology. United States Agency for Global Media. United States Agency for International Development. United States International Development Finance Corporation.
Environmental Quality is easy. Office of Personnel Management is about Trump changing the status of federal employees using Schedule F allowing him to fire non-loyalists. United States Global Media Agency is to prevent Kari Lake from destroying the Voice of America. International Development and International Finance Development, I have no idea.
January 6th memorandum withdrawing certain areas of the US outer continental shelf from oil or gas leasing.
A repeat, but a new area, I think. Drill, baby, drill, baby, drill. There's actually two memorandum saying the exact same thing. Since they don't have any numbers attached to them, I can't know if it's just an accidental duplication or not.
Presidential memorandum: rescission of Cuba's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
I still don't understand this one. We've been embargoing Cuba for 60 years. We were the ones who tried to do a regime change there. The only thing that ever happened was the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Russians backed down, and so did the Cubans, and it's actually been peace since then. There's no purpose in penalizing the country any longer that's only 90 miles from Florida.
In Section 3, the heads of each agency must get rid of the radical DEI ideology in their agencies.
The National Security Agency has to go through every single order Joe Biden made from January 20th, 2021, to January 20th, 2025, to make sure that they weren't orders that harmed national security.
He finishes off, saying that all of his orders are not subject to scrutiny and you can't sue him. Read the text.
This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United states, its departments, agencies, or entities, it's officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
It's like he's taunting critics and organizations that might file lawsuits. You can't do anything because I said so. Putting the Arctic outer continental shelf back on the leasing table could be easily challenged by environmental groups. There are a good number that take away civil rights for minorities and LGBTQ+ folks.
This is in addition to the ones he signed himself to go into effect on January 20th. Prime target there was the immediate filing of the ACLU on the birthright citizenship detailed in the 14th Amendment.
The attacks on democracy have started. We can't depend on the Republican controlled House and Senate. We've got the courts and states to fight back against the vision of Trump and his billionaire oligarchy. I hope we win. Maybe not all of the time. But the fights we be glorious.
