Recuperate now: resist later [1]

Defenders of democracy urged us to “leave it all on the field” in the last election. We canvassed, and phone-banked, and donated and voted. I am not ready to throw myself into the resistance. I need to recover from the disappointment of not having a talented, charming president. I need to come to terms with the idea that half the electorate are idiots, fascists, bigots, misogynists or all these at once. That is the most discouraging part. I am making time with family and friends and my several communities. This will help restore me so that I can re-enter the fray once the dust settles.
In the meantime, I’m savoring some of my favorite “resistance” music.
“You’d better stop. Hey now, what’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down.” (Buffalo Springfield.
“… but I’m not giving in an inch to fear, ‘cause I miss myself this year.” (David Crosby)
“Four dead in Ohio … How can you run when you know?” (Crosby Stills Nash & Young)
“The harder they come. The harder they fall one and all.” (Jimmy Cliff)
“The revolution will not be televised.” Gil Scott-Heron
“It’s an inside-job to hang onto the joy of living.” Don Henley
