Firing government employees who guard our digital infrastructure. [1]

Just to double check, there was some fine print in that oath administered yesterday…

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

That all seems very ambiguous.

What is the “best of my Ability”? “...Preserve, protect, and defend the [US Constitution]”, sure, but what about all those laws and regulations? Those aren’t the same thing. And, “faithfully”… what does that even mean to the most consistently unfaithful spouse, businessman, borrower, and politician known in our lifetimes?

In any case, preserving the digital integrity of the USA seems to be high on the list of things not to do:

Dark Reading has an article titled: “...Fires Cyber Safety Board Investigating Salt Typhoon Hackers” saying:

“Chris Krebs just got let go for the second time by President Trump.

In its first full day, the Trump administration axed all advisory committee members within the Department of Homeland Security, including the people that make up the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB). The CSRB was actively working on investigating Salt Typhoon, the Chinese state-sponsored hacking group responsible for breaches of at least nine telecommunications networks in the past several months.

The CISA part of that has the following mission: “We lead the national effort to understand, manage, and reduce risk to the cyber and physical infrastructure that Americans rely on every hour of every day. Our mission expands across three primary areas: cybersecurity, infrastructure security, and emergency communications.”
