America Died Yesterday. Next Steps towards Redemption [1]

I’ve got little i can say about yesterday without violating all kinds of standards. Losing sucks. I’ve known this and it compels me to be better. Smarter. More determined.

I get it. Not everyone is going to feel this way. What we do know is that there were lessons in 2024 and Hope Springs from Field PAC [dated website] volunteers will incorporate them in our voter contact work this year.

We learned a number of things this cycle. Follow-up contacts with voters has shown that Constituent Service Request forms are a great voter mobilization device. We also found that the voters Hope Springs volunteers registered and given post-registration attention voted (so far, this is an ongoing project) at 74% -- a much higher rate than new registrants in general.

We found that our GOTV practices (where we performed them) also led to higher turnout. Several areas that took over our canvass areas expressed a wish to me that we had continued them instead. That is something that volunteers will be given more choice on in the future. We are also learning how much voters want to be asked about their choices, priorities and expectations. Although we are already listening to voters, we need to expand voter and organizational understanding that “We’re Listening.”

There were also things we learned where we can do better. Focusing on swing Congressional Districts to move competitive states into the Democratic column did not work as well as we hoped. There were areas where we moved voters significantly only to find that other areas compensated in the opposite direction. We cannot continue to focus on the swing areas of swing congressional districts to move swing states.

Hope Springs also needs to broaden its leadership to pick up the slack. That’s just a fact.

And we need to broaden our support base or “revenue stream” to support our efforts. Those are the starting lines.

Hope Springs from Field PAC begins knocking on doors again on March 1st. We target Democrats and unaffiliated voters with a systematic approach that reminds them not only that Democrats care, but Democrats are determined to deliver the best government possible to all Americans. The voters we talk to continue to tell us they come away more invested in governance and feel more favorably towards Democrats in general because of our approach.

Obviously, we rely on grassroots support, so if you support field/grassroots organizing, voter registration (and follow-up) and our efforts to protect our voters, we would certainly appreciate your support:
