ABOUT ELON MUSK'S "ROMAN" SALUTE [1]

Elon Musk is now saying the gesture he made at Trump’s inauguration is a “Roman salute”, not a fascist salute.
There is no difference between the two.
Fascists admired the Romans; a tough lot who conquered much of Europe and liked to watch people get eaten by lions. The word Fascist comes from the Roman fasces, a bundle of sticks carried by the Romans as a symbol of authority. (Do as we say, or we’ll hit you with a stick.)
Lots of people liked that Roman salute. In the early days of the Pledge of Allegiance, school children were expected to extend their hands toward the flag in a Roman style salute. That ended in the late thirties, guess why.
Back in the 1930s, when fascism was on the rise, a great many Afrikaners, in Elon Musk’s homeland of South Africa, embraced the movement.
Afrikaners are descendants of the Dutch colonizers who began settling in South Africa in the sixteen hundreds.
They resented the British who took over the colony in the nineteenth century. Which is one reason why some of them would embrace fascism, especially German fascism. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
There was a South African fascist party in the 1930s.
There was another movement in the late twentieth century.
Who, in an apartheid state, wouldn’t love a movement that preached white supremacy, and claimed it could be proved scientifically?
I don’t know anything at all about Elon Musk’s family, his homelife or his education. It would be a good thing if someone looked into it.
I am hoping nobody convinced young Elon Musk that Hitler was maligned, that fascism is a good idea and democracy doesn’t work.
I am worried that the reverse may be true.
Yes, Elon Musk gave a Roman salute, which is also the Nazi Seig Heil, as there is no difference between the two.
