While Jeff Bezos sits at his bff Trump's Inauguration, let's help organize an Amazon warehouse! [1]

Okay folks, LISTEN UP.

There’s something you can do during this terrible Inauguration weekend to feel a glimmer of hope AND strike a critical blow against the Trump-billionaire-bro oligarchy.

You might think “there aren’t any elections soon.” Wrong! There’s an election in early February. It’s a UNION election at the Amazon warehouse in Garner, North Carolina.

If that’s all you need to hear and you want to stick it to new Trump bff Jeff Bezos, you can make a donation to support the unionization effort here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dhf_cause_amazonelection

Otherwise, here’s a quick overview.

The massive fulfillment center in Garner, known as RDU1, employs nearly 5,000 people. Most Amazon packages in the region run through this facility.

A worker-run group called Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity & Empowerment (CAUSE) has been organizing since 2022 to address issues at their workplace: Breakneck speeds. Hours so long that some workers sleep in the parking lot. Double the injury rates of other warehouses. Management not telling workers about COVID outbreaks. And more.

They submitted a petition to the NLRB and received approval to hold a union election: The second ever at an Amazon warehouse, and the first one in the South.

To quote our outgoing POTUS: This is a big ****ing deal.

Amazon has responded with millions of dollars spent on anti-union consultants, captive audience meetings, and finding reasons to fire workers associated with CAUSE, many of them people of color.

But despite the odds against them, workers have a strong chance of defeating Amazon’s billions and winning a massive victory for working people and against Trump bff Jeff Bezos — right when we need one!

Every dollar you donate goes directly into organizing. There are thousands of workers at RDU1, and because Amazon can force people into anti-union meetings on company time, CAUSE is at a big communication deficit. They have to print thousands of copies of our newsletters in four languages, which they distribute at shift changes. They place yard signs around the perimeter of the facility, so that workers see our messages coming into work.

The next big initiative is a big pre-election barbecue, with food that can bring workers together to build solidarity and have important conversations about the union.

None of this stuff is cheap, but compared to a political campaign spending thousands on TV ads, it’s peanuts. A little goes a long way.

I want to see if we can raise $5,000 for the union effort during Inauguration weekend.

Imagine Jeff Bezos’ smug face as he sits next to Musk and Zuckerberg at Trump’s inauguration. Think about him blocking the Washington Post endorsement of Kamala Harris. Think about him taking a joyride to space while thousands of his employees can’t afford basic needs.

Then, smash that donate button: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dhf_cause_amazonelection

(CAUSE is directing fundraising through The Labor Force, a 501(c)4 non-profit on ActBlue.)

Let’s win this thing!
