The Constitution's enemies foreign & domestic: this regime is both [1]

I hope Musk’s Nazi salute today has clarified the situation for every one of our Democratic representatives, and for any of my fellow readers who had doubts about the stark nature of the crisis. The Constitution’s enemies now occupy the presidency, but they remain the Constitution’s enemies.
Congressional and military oaths of office require the swearer to protect and defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic. With the enemies now standing before us, that means acting in complete opposition, as though we were at war, because we are.
Our job as the Democratic base is to make sure members of Congress adhere to this most crucial aspect of their oath, and to remove them if they don’t. Every member of Congress, and particularly every Democrat has an obligation now to use every gram of power that comes with their station, directing the entirety of their resources toward discrediting, disabling and removing the enemy from any role in governance.
How many Dems are really going to act as opposition though? How many will instead prove themselves collaborators with the Nazis? How many more will try to skate by with just token opposition, as they have done during the past three months?
I was reflecting over the weekend about stories my mother told me about her brothers during the previous war with Nazis. She told me uncle Jack was at Pearl Harbor on the day. Some kind of shell or bomb crashed through the roof of the bunkhouse and rolled under a buddy’s bed, but thankfully it didn’t explode. He went on to fight the fight in the Pacific.
Uncle Larry, in mom’s story, rode the tail end of a B-17 into occupied France and spent the final year of the war as a POW. My uncles risked all, and others of their generation died, in the civilizational project to defeat fascism and end Nazis, We should not accept a lower standard from the current holders of office, the current takers of oaths. We shouldn’t hold a lower standard for ourselves either.
A member of Congress can be adequate to the task of defeating Nazis, or they can be inadequate to it. There are no gradiations.
Fascism extends a loving embrace to anyone whose priority is self-advancement. Fascism knows exactly how to use people like that. Therefore if a MOC’s priority is their own career, they need to be replaced.
I think it would be productive to do some workshopping with others here about how the power of the activist base (us) can be coordinated to make sure our party acts as a unified opposition. Maybe it’s time for another Daily Kos conference to hash out strategies and tactics around that one topic.
