Six Rich Men [1]

We all can clearly see that the new Trump administration plans to cater to the rich, most likely in exchange for favors. What is slightly less obvious is exactly how much control these new Robber Baron’s have over our society.
The January 20th Hartman Report has a comprehensive review on how Republicans led Americans into this predicament. It also outlines the names and some of the power of those most likely to be influential in this administration.
What it does not go into detail on is exactly how much information is controlled by these moguls who control Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Twitter/X, and TikTok and the results of Google and ChatGPT searches. They also are reaching out to control various mainstream media, such as the Washington Post. Hartman suggested calling them the, “Morbidly Rich”.
I’d prefer the term Sick Six. If the Trump campaign taught us nothing else, we should have learned that before people will listen to your policies, they first have to believe you are on their side and against their enemies. Right now, Democrats are hard pressed to name our enemies.
Trump is a problem. He is a big problem. But, Lord willing and the good do something, he is a short-term problem. He is not the enemy we will be facing in 2028.
Folks on neither side are particularly aware of how their news gets to their in-box. Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to live is rural or smaller communities that have less media resources. Culturally, therefore, they have become more comfortable with what is available. Why should they look around for other sources? Maybe, just maybe, they will be interested in the antics of the Sick Six. This is especially true if we can show how their actions hurt folks in these rural and smaller communities.
Younger folks, already turned off by mainstream media, are particularly vulnerable to self-reinforcing beliefs. This is especially true if they are not paying attention to who is directing information to them. How do we get younger folks to make the effort to look around? Maybe, if we link the actions of the Sick Six to, say inflation and home prices, to climate change, to anti-minority communities policies, or to increasing militarization, they will look away from their chosen information sources and seek others.
How do we break this cycle of reenforced misbelief? Well, we need our own media. BlueSky, among other sources, is a decent start. But why would folks who are not already vested in any truth-seeking media seek these alternative sources out? They are unaware that they need it. We need to make them aware.
If we start calling out every violation we can see from any of the Sick Six, folks might wake up. Awakened, they might look for alternatives. Seeking alternatives, they might actually find some.
Just by getting people to look less at media controlled by the Sick Six, we will have hurt their bottom line. As money dries up, so does the potential for influence. That is a decent first step. But, it is not nearly enough. We still have to inspire action towards better alternatives.
And, face it, alliterative enemies allow for alternatives. If some new power broker steps up, we can grant him the honorific of membership in the Selfish Seven. Someone dies, we can rename the group the Fascist Five. Heck, just fighting over the name of the elite power brokers cabal will create its own media attention.
