DOGE gets sued. Four times. [1]

Before Trump even finished his inauguration, his “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), run by Elon Musk (and not Vivek Ramaswamy, who’s reportedly been dumped), got hit with three lawsuits from progressive groups fighting back against the attack on ordinary Americans that this entity represents. The suits were filed by Public Citizen, American Public Health Association, and public interest law firm National Security Counselors.
The lawsuits say that DOGE is a federal advisory committee and is therefore subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), passed in 1972. The act has several requirements that DOGE does not meet, including transparency requirements and a balanced membership. Since DOGE is run by a billionaire with obvious conflicts of interest, the membership is anything but balanced.
“DOGE’s stacked membership, far from being fairly balanced, reveals that only one viewpoint is represented: that of ‘small-government crusaders’ with backgrounds in either the tech industry or Republican politics.
The suit names 9 defendants, including Musk, Ramaswamy, Trump and the organization itself and OMB, which will be run by Project 2025 author Russell Vought.
The complaint alleges that based on public information about 17 people who have been hired to work with DOGE, none represent the perspective of federal employees, unions, or accountability and transparency advocates.
A fourth suit was filed by the Center For Biological Diversity. According to The Hill, this suit demands public records on how DOGE members have interacted with the White House during the transition, although I wonder if they actually meant the Trump transition team.
This is great news and shows that progressives are not just going to lie back and let Trump walk all over us. It gives new meaning to “fight like hell, or we’re not going to have a country anymore!”
