Ladies, Spread Your Legs, PLEASE! [1]

Yesterday was a terrible day for me, a one year anniversary that I will relive for the rest of my life. One year ago, I held my sister's hand as she slipped away from this world, quietly and without a sound. I need to tell our story, for myself, for her, for all women, because her death, tragic as it was was totally avoidable. My sister died because she ignored warning signs her own body was giving her and I don't know why. I need to understand why my big sister, my only sister, died from endometrial cancer two months before she turned 67 years old. As difficult as it will be for me to make this trip, I need to because I need to make sense of a senseless death. I have to believe that SOMETHING good can come from this and I am hoping that if my story, OUR story, gets one woman to her doctor for a simple test that ends up saving her life, it will give a bit of comfort to know that my sister did not die in vain. So, if you can bear it and I can bear it, please let me tell you our story and ladies, PLEASE make an appointment with your OBGYN, put your legs up in those stirrups, spread your legs and get your yearly PAP smears.
