Taste the Shame [1]

It’s hard to watch your nation debase itself on the altar of craven corruption in such a heroically craven manner. To act in a way, it has never acted in the past. Well maybe that one time before, when a disgruntled Continental officer by the name of Arnold defected to the other side promised favors and position.
Grand high wizard and potentate to the King, Prince Rubio tells a slumbering duma. We need to bring peace to Ukraine [Because that’s what Russia wants] because that’s important to bring peace because Ukraine can’t win [And that’s what Russia wants!] There need to be concessions made on all sides. Russia only gets most of what she wants. Ukraine gets nothing but fucked. I don’t know what Americans don’t get out of the deal except maybe stability, honor or dignity.
Helping the aggressor beat the little guy to a pulp isn’t exactly the American ideal. Like that time Churchill asked Roosevelt for fifty old destroyers to fight off the Nazi U-boats and Roosevelt suggested negotiations. If you just give him Europe and we can have peace! Or that time Harry Truman evacuated Berlin. To preserve the peace with the Russians (Modern spoiler alert, he didn’t.) Kennedy could have made a deal and let the Russian keep their missiles in Cuba, to preserve the peace. [Make Check payable to CASH!] We didn’t have to come to the edge of nuclear annihilation. Who doesn’t like truckloads of cash?
But when you’re new to International power politics and think more at the street corner thug level. The King plays Donkey Kong while the world plays chess. For a bribe of forty pieces of silver, the King attempts to sell real estate he doesn’t own and force an illegitimate peace. Ask Lyndon Johnson what happens when you inherit a war, and you think you have all the answers.
The peace won’t hold, and the King will have egg on his face when the cigar explodes. The peace will hold, and the US is forced into an eternal and expensive occupation. The Russians will screw the King on the deal. [voted most likely!]
The Russian Army pushes through Belgian peacekeepers and heads for Kyiv. Welcome World War III! What took you so long? Time for more negotiations and cash Neville! The idea is to make a deal with the bandits. They can keep most of what they’ve stolen if they promise on their word of honor and good name to steal no more. A 50/50 chance it won’t work and a near 100% chance it will end badly.
It’s sort of like Table tennis. Right now, the King has Putin by the balls. Putin needs him as a last chance gas, fill up. But the minute the King makes medicine with the Russian warlord the balance of power shifts. Putin will have the King by the nuts. The King becomes his accomplice. Putin faces a coup d’état and falling down six flights of stairs in a one-story building. The King faces the one thing the King can’t tolerate, public humiliation.
But now the question arises, is it already too late for Russia? Is it wise to stick your neck out for a lost cause? He can’t pay you if he’s removed from power. All sales final! Store credit only! The Russian Central bank has a new scheme to raise funds. Seize it from their depositors! If you have more than $13,500 in savings in the bank, now you don’t! That’s always a good sign that things are going well. In Moscow recently, the police held their annual running of the migrant workers! Winners got to go home; losers were immediately inducted into the Russian Army.
We have witnessed the rise of a whole new kind of war. Using million-dollar missiles to knock down $1,500 drones. Surveillance drones, attack drones, anti-drone drones, electronic warfare jamming drones. A whole new kind of war. You can send a drone loaded with a small amount of explosives 800 miles and strike one little part of the oil refinery; they don’t make in Russia.
Kyiv struck a major ammunition warehouse as Russian soldiers reported a shortage of shells and missiles at the front. Kyiv strikes Russian oil and fuel infrastructure and the incoming cash to the Kremlin trickles towards zero. The Biden Administration put sanctions on Russian oil tankers and the money is officially gone. Without refineries to produce products, the oil is largely useless, and the fields will shut down. We’re not talking about being shut down for weeks or months here, but for years.
The world bank predicts by the end of 2025, the Russian economy will be flat ass broke. As in, wild in the street’s bricks through plate glass windows pandemonium broke. Chances are the Russian government will fall before that occurs unless someone comes along to rescue them. But it’s so risky because it might be too late anyway. They can’t pay the King if they catch two in the back of the head now, can they?
An average Russian soldier at the front is over 50 years old. Demographically speaking, Russia is doomed. After losing 20 million plus in WW2 including the flower of their youth. There was a demographic jump between the young and the old with few in between. Now flash forward to today. One million Russian men killed or wounded. Millions more have fled the country unlikely to ever return.
Every time I see a Russian oil refinery burning, I think to myself. That refinery belongs to somebody, and I bet they are unhappy. Economy in free fall, currency near worthless. Army depleted, Air Force decrepit and obsolete and the Navy only the rust keeps it floating. The Russians only have one card left to play, and I won’t name it because it sounds too corny.
Prince Rubio thinks Ukraine needs to consider concessions; their situation is hopeless.
Taste the shame.
“Today is Trinity Sunday. Centuries ago, words were written to be a call and a spur to the faithful servants of Truth and Justice: “Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be.” – Winston Churchill
