President Biden’s wide-ranging interview by Lawrence O’Donnell is revealing of the President’s statecraft, experience, and pluck.
I can’t imagine a reason why supporters or detractors would not want to see the current state of mind of a President that has had domestic impact as great as Lyndon Johnson with the amazingly difficult passage of the “Build Back Better” Infrastructure Bill.
Biden ‘s rebuilding of Harry Truman’s NATO legacy abroad is also broached, touching both his daring ten-hour train ride to visit with President Zelensky in wartime Kiev, and his understanding of Putin’s (ongoing) desire to rebuild the Warsaw Pact.
President Biden’s discussion of his relations with Prime Minister Netanyahu is revealing. Attempting to defuse a Middle East regional war while maintaining Israel’s military superiority, Biden’s state of mind is of particular historical interest due to the tragic outcomes of his foreign Policy stance—at times right, nuanced, necesary, and wrong.
Biden reiterates his support of the Two-State solution phoenix while only tangentially acknowledging the cruel outcome of the Israeli War in Gaza against Hamas-led militant and terror-using groups, with its Palestinian civilian casualties and massacres.
That President Biden’s fifty years of public service is ending on a note of deep concern for the future of our Republic is no surprise to anyone who has heard the recent Tech Oligarchy Farewell Speech from the Oval Office—with its warning about the concentration of power, needed restoration of accountability in the three branches of Federal government, and the crucial leadership role of Americans against ongoing world-wide environmental catastrophes.
