Inauguration Day Really Will be a Cold Day in Hell (w/ Poll) [1]

Four days out from the madness, it appears that Inauguration Day is going to be one of the coldest on record — a literal “cold day in hell.”

From ABC News: Trump's inauguration will be coldest in decades.

When Trump is sworn in at noon, the temperature will be about 18 or 19 degrees. Due to the wind, the wind chill -- what temperature it feels like -- will be between 5 and 10 degrees.

WaPo: Snow showers likely today. More snow possible Sunday, then brutal cold.

The Hill: Subfreezing temperatures, sunshine forecast for Trump inauguration.

Trump is infamously sensitive about anything having to do with his inauguration (or anything else about him). The most widespread story from the 2017 inaugural was, of course, his false insistence that his crowd was larger than Obama’s. But it may not be as well remembered that Trump also tried to claim the rain stopped and the sun came out the moment he took the oath. Donald Trump: All the false claims 45th President has made since his inauguration (published THREE DAYS after his first inauguration):

Claim 1: "The crowd was unbelievable today. I looked at the rain, which just never came, you know, we finished the speech, went inside, it poured then we came outside," he said. "The helicopter scene was an incredible scene, and then, amazingly it rained—like God was looking down on us." Reality: The rain started as Mr Trump began his inauguration speech, as he acknowledged the next day during a speech at CIA headquarters.

Trump has a long history of objecting to weather reports when they don’t line up with his narrative of the moment, most (in)famously when he mistakenly said Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama. Rather than admit to a mistake (NEVER!) or, plausibly, blame someone for giving him the wrong information, he doubled-down with a weather map that he had so obviously altered with a Sharpie that it’s a wonder the people in the office with him were able to keep a straight face (though I’m sure they had plenty of practice by then). He even forced NOAA to alter its forecast so that it agreed with him, which caused unnecessary concern among Alabama residents who suddenly found themselves in Dorian’s “path.”

Trump could do the same thing this time: Demand that the weather reports say it was a balmy 60 or even 70 degrees when he was sworn in. Or he take a hint from Marjorie Taylor Greene and blame the Jews for the weather. Or he could try Greene’s other tactic: Democrats were controlling the weather so as to prevent Trump's election. If that doesn’t work, blame Canada; after all, that’s where the polar vortex is coming from. And as a last resort, he can fall back on that old standby: Blame Biden.
