When entering an art museum gallery which features a single artist’s works, I expect to see paintings spaced on the wall with descriptions of each work showing the title of the work, the year completed, the materials used, and so on. The Missoula Art Museum in Missoula, Montana hosted a special exhibition of works by Cid Wolstein that was unusual: it was a cacophony of colors which emphasized that entire collection. It was not a collection of individual works and there were no labels.
According to the artist (all caps in the original):
“COLOR IS KING. COLOR RELATIONSHIPS ARE THE MANIA. WORK INCLUDES LOTS OF VARIATIONS ON A THEME IN A SERIES.”
She also writes:
“PAINTING MATERIALS ARE PRIMARILY LATEX HOUSE PAINTS COLLECTED FOR DECADES: MOSTLY OFFBEAT MISMIX DISCOUNTED QUARTS AND GALLONS. ODD COLOR COMBOS ARE THE BEST. ACRYLICS HAVE NOW ENTERED.”
