My Plans For January 20th. [1]

Dear Folks at Daily Kos:
Good Morning! I have a short article to write, then I hope the comments will help me with some more ideas for everyone to consider.
I had heard that there was going to be a nationwide People’s March on the 18thof January. This last weekend I decided to look up the details of that March to be held our state capital city. I was surprised to find that there was no People’s March scheduled. Apparently, there was a big shakeup in the organization that usually puts on these events, so everything fell apart, and no other organization rose up and took over the task.
Well. Hmmm.
There were some other People’s Marches scheduled in other cities. I supposed I could go there, but I was very disgruntled. I thought for a little bit that I should try to organize a People’s March in my own community. In two weeks. Ha,Ha.
So I was casting about, very dissatisfied, when I came across the announcement that the city next door would be holding their annual MLK Parade and Festival on January 20th. Yes, just like every year, a parade and festival to honor the memory of a great American. The theme of the event is “Building Bridges: Cultivating Our Community.” I was overjoyed to find this, and I think we will have a group going to watch the parade, to cheer and applaud all the marchers, and then visit some of the booths and food trucks at the festival.
So I wanted to let y’all know that I will be too busy having fun with my family and friends to pay any attention to what will be happening in Washington, D.C. on January 20th. I’m not sure I have to say anything else here, so please share any ideas y’all have? Thanks!
