Europe is not America.

We believe in the social contract.

We still have the ruins of the last conflict with fascists scarring the land.

We do not need your toxic masculinity and hate-filled rhetoric polluting our lives.

This has nothing to do with your definition of “freedom of speech,” where some protect every comment by a disgruntled, mischievous, or hate-filled individual person designed to harm someone else comes under some higher cause that you define.

Stop weaponizing yourselves and your minions.

Just because you helped elect the President of your wettest of dreams does not mean you rule the world, yet.

French minister to Musk and Zuckerberg: 'Stop instrumentalizing freedom of speech' -Le Monde

In an interview, French Junior Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies Clara Chappaz reacts to attacks by the heads of major American social media companies, such as Meta (Facebook, Instagram) founder Mark Zuckerberg and X owner Elon Musk, who accuse European laws of "censoring" freedom of speech. Chappaz urges the European Commission to firmly apply the European regulation of social media – the Digital Services Act (DSA) – as Meta announced, on Tuesday, January 7, major changes in moderation and Musk is stepping up messages aimed at influencing political decisions in the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU), notably in Germany. On January 9, he will be talking on X with a leader of the German far-right party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD).

*Promoting the ideas of Nazis indicates your personal politics.

More broadly, Zuckerberg and Musk claim that EU laws "censor" freedom of speech. Are we heading for a clash between Silicon Valley and Europe? This is nothing new, and we're not heading for a shock. But we're not naive. It's necessary to stop instrumentalizing freedom of speech. We're not asking the United States to rewrite the First Amendment to their Constitution. And they don't have to ask us to rethink the way we've been guaranteeing freedom of speech in Europe and France for two centuries in the Declaration of the Rights of Man. We absolutely must not allow ourselves to be drawn into this instrumentalization. Freedom of speech, which is a fundamental right, is simply defined differently in the US and in Europe, particularly in France, which implies specific expectations in terms of moderation.

We have laws designed to prevent libel and slander, just as we have against hate speech.

I wish we had laws against misinformation.

You might rejoice in America's fascistic dreams,

Not here, never again, [fingers bloody crossed] First Greenland, then the world!

Just pay your fines, take your punishment like a man, and move on.

Personally, I do not believe in your definition as to what constitutes “Freedom of Speech”.

You are full of it.

A morning muse
