ADAPTIVE INDOMITABLE UKRAINE: Unusable Arty Shells or Rockets? Arm the Drones With Them [1]

The Russo-Ukrainian War has surprised the world with how quickly it has turned into a drone dominated war. Remember how awed the world was when Ukraine started using the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 small airplane sized drone to hit Russian targets? There were even songs written about it and it was much celebrated by Ukrainians alongside the American-made man-portable anti-tank Javelin and its Ukrainian patron saint, St. Javelin.
The Javelin along with its assorted brethren from several European countries are still wreaking havoc daily on Russian armor by the bushel. But the Bayraktar TB2? By some accounts it has long exited Ukrainian armed forces stores … rapidly evolving events and technology on the battle field have rendered it so much yesterday’s technology. Russian air defense tactics quickly rendered the TB2 hors de combat.
But for Ukraine the TB2 was just the beginning. While both Russia and Ukraine are quickly racing to gain superiority in the emerging “drone war”, recent events seem to show Ukraine taking the use of drones as a military platform to a whole new level, as the world seemingly stands agog. A country without a naval force has basically chased the much vaunted Russian navy out of what they once considered “our own sea”. The same sea ancient Greek mariners and colonists called the Euxine(hospitable) sea, known to us today as the Black Sea. Ukraine has in quick order developed a rootin ‘n a tootin drone naval force that is capable of both land, sea and air assaults. Suddenly the world must be asking … Who really needs so many multi-billion dollar aircraft carriers when a carrier drone armed with missiles can do all that? ADAPTIVE INDOMITABLE UKRAINE !!!
Not only have they pushed Russia out of the western Black Sea but they are now actively seeking to clear Russian installations from the occupied western Kherson coastline, Crimean ports and also serving notice that they can even get to naval facilities in Russia proper. Could the last refuge of the Russian Black Sea fleet, the newly constructed base in Ochamchire in the break-away Russian controlled Georgian region of Abkhazia be next? Bet dat!
In addition to ramping up the gee whiz factor in drone technology, the Ukrainians are also doing something which would seem relatively mundane … letting no defective or non-conforming artillery shell, missile, rocket or even an RPG round go to waste. They are repurposing these otherwise disposable munitions into usable explosive charges for their killer FPV drones. Yep, they learned a very hard lesson from the unfortunate U.S. Republican congress imposed “munitions famine” of early 2024 .. never let any munition go to waste … adapt and repurpose. If it goes kaboom in any form or fashion, find a use for it. And they are(this is a good read):
