Judge blocks release of special counsel report on Trump's criminal cases. www.nbcnews.com/…
The federal judge who oversaw the classified documents case against President-elect Donald Trump issued an order Tuesday temporarily blocking the release of special counsel Jack Smith’s report on his investigation. The injunction lasts until three days after the 11th Circuit rules on a pending request to block the release of the report over a separate matter involving Trump co-defendants Walt Nauta and Carlos DeOliveira. Lawyers for Nauta and De Oliveira filed a motion Monday night asking U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to block the report, citing the judge’s previous ruling that Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional. Cannon said she was acting "to preserve the status quo" until the higher court rules on the issue.
From Mueller, She Wrote. bsky.app/...
If Biden were to order the Attorney General to release the Jack Smith report, the Supreme Court has ruled that would be an official act and subject to absolute presidential immunity. Just sayin.
=== From Emptywheel bsky.app/... Again, we expect David Weiss, who was appointed Special Counsel under the same authority as Jack Smith, to release a report after Alexander Smirnov gets sentenced Wednesday. If the Trump report cannot be released, then neither can the Hunter Biden one. === “False in Numerous Respects:” House Democrats Package Up Liz Cheney’s Evidence of “Despicable Malice.” www.emptywheel.net/… In a letter Cassidy Hutchinson’s attorney, William Jordan, sent to the DC bar, he corrected some of the false claims made in Barry Loudermilk’s report claiming that Liz Cheney had inappropriately suborned perjury from Hutchinson. The Loudermilk Report is false in numerous respects, including its suggestion that Ms. Hutchinson and Congresswoman Cheney had any improper communications. [snip] The Loudermilk Report is replete with other politically motivated falsehoods, but at a minimum Ms. Hutchinson wanted specifically to correct this error because it has been seized on by Mr. Passantino and other individuals in this Complaint. [my emphasis] The other individuals likely including private citizen Donald Trump. And that’s interesting because the report in which the letter was published includes an interesting line at the end of a long explanation of why this is an assault on Speech and Debate. That section cites the Supreme Court opinion holding that “once it is determined that Members are acting within the ‘legitimate legislative sphere’ the Speech or Debate Clause is an absolute bar to interference.” Then it cites the amicus brief the GOP sent in support of Scott Perry’s fight to keep content from his phone involving things that had nothing to do with formal oversight from prosecutors. “The Clause is not abrogated by allegations that a legislative official acted unlawfully or with an unworthy purpose, and applies both in civil cases and criminal prosecutions.” It cites to Scott Perry’s own filing. After including Trump’s tweet invoking the report, it trashes Loudermilk’s shoddy analysis. ✂️ And that’s interesting because Cheney — whose reference to this report in a Tweet was the first I heard of it — specifically said that the “report destroying Loudermilk’s fraudulent allegations shows the despicable malice behind Trump’s efforts.” “Despicable malice” sounds like the kind of thing you might sue over. === Once we had the Monroe Doctrine. Now we have the Lunacy Doctine (purloined from David Rothkopf). bsky.app/... Q: You didn't rule out using military coercion — TRUMP: Well, we need Greenland for national security purposes. People don't even know if Denmark has any legal right to it. But if they do, they should give it up. === Trump: "We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America." (He's serious.) bsky.app/... === Hahahahahaha! Trump Makes Convicted Drug Dealer Greenland Purchase Poster Boy. meidasnews.com/... On Truth Social, Trump posted a video of a man from Greenland asking him to purchase the Danish colony. As it turns out, the man, Timmy Zeeb, is a convicted drug dealer according to DR News. ✂️ Zeeb voiced support for selling the island to the United States, citing the unfair exploitation of Greenland’s natural resources by Denmark. After Trump posted the video to his millions of followers, DR News reported on Zeeb’s drug dealing history: “But Timmy Zeeb, who on Trump's profile has been made the face of Greenlanders' desire to become part of the United States, has a long list of convictions behind him. Most striking is a verdict from 2019, where Timmy Zeeb was sentenced to four years in prison in one of Greenland's largest cannabis cases. Back in 2009, Greenlandic police described how Timmy Zeeb was known for crimes that were dangerous to people. This happened in connection with Timmy Zeeb's escape from prison.” === In case you look at corporate behavior when choosing where to spend your money. 10 corporations that kept their promises after January 6, 2021. popular.info/...
✂️ While most companies took the path of Amazon and AT&T, there are a few companies that have stood by their principles. Popular Information has identified 10 companies that pledged to stop donating to members of Congress that voted to overturn the election and, over the last four years, have not broken that promise.

Happy National Pass Gas Day! What can I say, there's probably a day for everything.
Happy I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore Day!
I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day is commemorated on January 7 every year. The start of a new year is a good time to reflect on our lives and decide what we want to change about them. This is a day dedicated to standing up for yourself. A day of taking control. It aims to inspire you to start the year with a new attitude that combines both being strong and honest. You don’t have to be angry to participate; you just have to be true to yourself and know when you’ve had enough.
Happy National Distaff Day!
Distaff Day or Roc Day is an annual celebration held on January 7, and we are so ready to rock this one. This day celebrates the distaff and what it symbolized during medieval times, namely the efforts and work of women in textile to society. A distaff is a tool used in spinning to hold the wool or flax before spinning it onto the spindle, and it keeps the fibers untangled and makes the entire spinning process easier.
Who Gnu?
AND Happy National Tempura Day!
Tomorrow is National English Toffee Day. Yum, but watch your dental work!
