James Carville says, “Dems need to go on the attack!” I love James Carville. He’s one of the few in the media I truly respect. As always, I think he’s right. But I don’t really think so. This has been a long and winding road for me and for us all. I’m running out of time waiting for the great things a comin down the road. As a child, I remember the construction of Interstate highways and the conquest of outer space. Like the Great Wall of China, it’s great. But what have you done recently?

Bill Clinton tried healthcare reform and failed. Barack Obama was marginally successful. It is better than nothing when nothing is the other actual option. Dirty water is better than nothing too. Vote Dirty Water! If you can’t pass healthcare for all, who are you? We can change the tax code in an afternoon and fight wars on a credit card. But more than half a century trying to change our healthcare and no luck yet. You just keep voting for us, and we’ll just keep trying!

It’s not all their fault; I don’t mean to sound harsh, just frustrated. This is a Republican propagandized country, and it always has been. I’m gonna be rich someday, ya know! The media leans center right and calls it left. Republicans label anything not printed by Der Stormer as Leftist. They call CNN and Time magazine…left. When was the last time you heard Eugene Debs or Mother Jones quoted on CNN or in Time? Who did those zany leftists down at Time magazine choose as their Man of the Year, this year?

FDR spoke on the radio because the newspapers all leaned Republican. He went around the traditional media channels to reach people. With our Free Press, the traditional print press were free to not cover or to soft pedal the President’s remarks. Page three, below the fold. “President Spews Non- Sense!” Dan Quayle was chosen to run for Vice President not because his family owned a chain of newspapers across the Midwest. He was just heads and tails damn well over qualified! We dodged a bullet there America.

Huey Long started his own newspaper. He cut the cost of a driver’s license. He cut property taxes in half for small landowners. He did away with the poll tax. Concrete results with new roads and bridges to boot. Results the public could see in their wallets. Huey Long taxed Standard Oil and told them if they didn’t like it, to not let the door hit them where the lord split em. Promises are great, but results are nice too.

A media megalopolis George Orwell could never dream of every political idea between Fox News and MSNBC. “We play like everything, from El Chicano to Santana.” Metropolis on steroids and this elevator is going down. Real wages for working people have been in decline since the 1970s, and the Democrats said what? Nearly every election year the promises come like Santa. “We’re going to make it easier to join a union! We’re going to give everyone healthcare! We’re gonna raise that minimum wage. We’re gonna pass that Equal Rights Amendment! You just wait and see.”

Joe Biden forgiving student loans is laudable and commendable, but what’s in it for me? In 2008, we bailed out GM and Chrysler and the big banks. The average citizen got balled out by Barack Obama for taking out loans they couldn’t pay back and called irresponsible after the economy collapsed. I didn’t get bailed out, I got thrown out. I’ve got a four-year degree in homelessness, and no one has offered to assist me with my tuition obligations from that adventure. I had mistakenly thought maybe the Democrats had changed. I thought with the rising generation leaning more to the left they would use that to their advantage and return to more traditional sentiments.

“I’m not a member of any organized political party, I’m a Democrat.” – Will Rogers

You know what we need in wake of this stunning Presidential defeat? More of the same! Yes, sir! Don’t change nothing! Don’t change a damn thing! Do not color outside of the lines. By leading the party with Sept and Octogenarians we can attract the young people. They can really relate to old people and besides we’ve been so successful, so far. Let’s show them how it’s done. Not that the Democrats have not done a good job. But it’s piecemeal.

“. . . the press and the pulpit have in every age and every nation been on the side of the exploiting class and the ruling class.” ― Eugene V. Debs

Too much attention on Social causes maybe and not enough attention on monetary causes. If you need a government program to buy a house in this country, something is bad wrong. If home prices are too high, you increase the supply of homes to lower the price. But why in a Capitalist Economy would you ever want to do a foolish thing like that? They profit from higher prices. Stealing the money, you haven’t even earned yet. Fighting for you! Right?

A healthcare executive gunned down in the street because why? Paying more for healthcare than anyone else on the planet. Using it less and disliking it more. Log into your patient portal to find out just how meaningless and lost in the bureaucracy you really are. Family vacations are largely a thing of the past. Single income families and the dream of home ownership. Saving to send the kids to college today is like saving to send them to the moon.

Appealing to our better angels can’t seem to complete with appealing to our deepest fears. “Can’t you see? Potter’s not selling! Potter’s buying!” With enough fear and propaganda Republicans can rule the world when there is no real competing ideas to speak of. With the Extreme Court as their emergency brake making certain nothing truly populist ever accidently leaks through.

And if elected, I’ll make it easier to join a Union. And higher wages too! Two chickens in every garage! And a tax credit for chicken feed too!

“It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By "business" I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white-collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

I’d vote for that!
