9:23 we can fight High inflation and we must

9:26 we'll give relief to Americans and we'll

9:28 extend the Trump tax

9:39 cuts we're going to protect our

9:41 industries from one-sided trade deals

9:43 and we're going to bring overseas

9:45 Investments back to America's Shores

9:47 we'll def that's

9:50 right we'll defeat the harmful effects

9:53 of inflation and will make life

9:55 affordable again for America's

9:57 hardworking people

10:04 As Leaders of a Nation with vast natural

10:07 resources that God has blessed us with

10:09 it is our duty to restore America's

10:12 energy dominance dominance and that's

10:15 what we'll

10:25 do we have to apply Common Sense we have

10:28 to stop the attack tax on Liquified Natural

10:31 Gas Pass legislation to eliminate the

10:34 green New Deal that funding that

10:45 funding we're going to expedite new

10:47 drilling permits we're going to save the

10:49 jobs of our auto manufacturers and we're

10:51 going to do that by ending the

10:53 ridiculous EV mandates

11:05 and as heirs to the American Revolution

11:07 and the descendants of patriots who defy

11:09 tyranny in the coming months we are

11:11 going to pass legislation to roll back

11:14 the

11:15 totalitarian fourth branch of government

11:18 known as the administrative state

11:30 we're going to drastically cut back the

11:32 size and scope of government we're going

11:34 to return the power back to the

11:39 people and in coordination with

11:41 President Trump and his administration

11:43 we are going to create a leaner faster

11:45 and more efficient Federal Workforce we

11:48 need to do

11:52 that our people do not deserve to be

11:54 ruled by millions of bureaucrats they've

11:56 never voted for never met and can never

11:58 hold accountable

12:03 they deserve a government that is led by

12:05 those they've elected to lead that is

12:08 how article one is supposed to work that

12:10 was the idea of the Congress and we will

12:12 return to that principle the American

12:14 people have called on us to reject

12:16 business as usual and throw out the

12:18 status quo we must and we will heed

12:21 their

12:27 call this is especially important as it

12:29 comes to our nation's military for too

12:31 long the Washington establishment has

12:33 sought to appease and accommodate our

12:35 nation's adversaries they've tried to

12:37 replace our military warriors with

12:39 social justice Warriors it does not work

12:43 and while we're still the most powerful

12:44 fighting force in the history of the

12:46 world by God's grace the same

12:48 establishment has eroded the capacities

12:50 of our Army and Navy and diminished the

12:52 Readiness of our Air Force we have to

12:55 put an end to this madness

13:10 my friends and my colleagues I think we

13:12 should all unite in this idea it is time

13:15 now to reinstate fear in our enemies

13:17 refocus our mission on lethality and

13:20 realign our commitment to peace through

13:23 strength right now

13:33 we have to prioritize the things that

13:36 matter most we have to make adequate

13:38 investments in defense this is the most

13:40 dangerous moment since World War II and

13:43 everyone around the world is looking to

13:45 America and looking to this body to

13:48 ensure that we maintain the peace what

13:50 we're proposing now is just simply as

13:52 president Trump likes to say a return to

13:54 Common Sense and he's exactly right that

13:57 message resonated across the country I

14:00 am very thankful personally that this

14:02 body is filled with men and women who

14:04 are committed to that change to return

14:06 to Common Sense we can do this together

14:09 we should it is our responsibility to do

14:11 so when I when I first took this gavel

14:14 many of you uh heard me say that I don't

14:15 believe in lock or consequence I I

14:18 believe in the idea of Providence and

14:20 this morning I I participated with many

14:22 of you uh early this morning in the

14:24 119th Congress Interfaith prayer service

14:27 it was held at St Peter Catholic Church

14:29 many of you were there it was an

14:31 ecumenical service with a in a

14:33 bipartisan service which was great my

14:35 good friend hakeim Jeff began by reading

14:37 with the Old Testament he read out of

14:38 Deuteronomy 10 and then I was asked to

14:41 provide a prayer for the nation I I

14:43 offered one that is quite familiar to

14:46 historians and probably many many of us

14:48 it said right here in the program it

14:50 says right under my name it is said each

14:52 day of his eight years of the presidency

14:55 and every day thereafter until his death

14:58 President Thomas Jefferson recited this

15:01 prayer I I wanted to share it with you

15:04 here at the end of my remarks not not as

15:05 a prayer per se right now but as really

15:08 as a reminder of what our third

15:10 president and the primary author of the

15:13 Declaration of Independence thought was

15:15 so important that it should be a daily

15:18 recitation let me just read you that

15:20 prayer it it goes like this Thomas Jefferson's prayer for the nation, it's entitled.

Almighty God who has given us this good land for our heritage we humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will bless our land with honorable Ministry sound learning and pure manners save us from violence Discord and confusion from pride and arrogance and from every evil way. Defend our liberties and fashion into one United people the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues and now with thy Spirit of wisdom Those whom in thy name we entrust the authority of government that there may be Justice and peace at home and that through obedience to thy law we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the Earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness and in the day of trouble suffer not our trust in thee to fail of which we ask through Jesus Christ Our Lord, amen. That was Thomas Jefferson’s prayer.

16:37 Yeah—suffer not our trust in thee to

16:39 fail. We will not fail. We cannot fail. We

16:42 are all in this together. Our nation is

16:45 counting on us to band together and

16:47 solve these problems and get this done.

16:50 I've said before that I believe God has

16:51 elevated each one of you, This is my

16:53 belief, to your positions of leadership

16:55 and it's an act of Providence that

16:56 you've all been placed in your specific

16:59 roles in this specific moment at this

17:02 historic time at the

17:04 250-year inflection point of the

17:07 greatest nation in the history of the

17:08 world. It is no small thing we're also

17:11 witnesses to the Providence that spared

17:13 our incoming president president Trump

17:15 from the assassin's bullet, remarkable as

17:17 that was, and to the new Coalition of

17:19 Americans that has risen from every

17:21 Creed, color, and class who want us to put

17:25 America First. Our people are asking for

17:28 a thriving economy and a rebuilt

17:29 middle class and strong borders and a

17:31 strong military and we can deliver that.

17:34 See these objectives and these aims

17:36 don't have an R or a D behind them. They

17:39 have a USA—that's what we're

17:53 about. In just a few moments we're all

17:56 going to take an oath, it is the same one

17:58 oath for one nation and under the banner

18:01 of one Great American flag this is an

18:04 opportunity for us to protect our shared

18:06 American Heritage to maintain the

18:09 conditions needed for self-government

18:11 and to defend what Hakeem said earlier

18:13 the rights to life liberty and the

18:16 pursuit of happiness. Working together we

18:18 have the potential to be one of the most

18:21 consequential Congresses in the history

18:23 of this great nation, so long as we work

18:27 together, we do the right thing, we put

18:29 America first, as we think about all

18:31 we've accomplished in the past 250 years

18:33 we can only imagine what life will be

18:35 like 250 years from now. Whatever the

18:38 future may look like, if we do our jobs

18:41 now we can help ensure that our Civic

18:43 virtues will endure, that this nation

18:46 will still be an example to all the

18:48 world for its greatness and its example

18:51 of self-government and that in spite of

18:54 our great challenges and even our

18:55 disagreements and our healthy debates

18:58 this extraordinary institution the

19:00 People's House will still be standing

19:03 strong. Thank you all so much and God
