“In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE was a Declaration of Illegitimacy. It was a last resort.
Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibits anyone who has taken an oath to support the Constitution and then “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same” from holding Federal or State office. The gentleman from New York, who resides at Mar-a-Lago, has violated that provision in plain sight. Must WE THE PEOPLE tolerate such disrespect? The answer is no.
Tomorrow, Congress takes the oath to uphold the Constitution. This is their duty—to support and defend the supreme law of the land “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” And your duty as a citizen is to remind them of theirs. Contact your Representative and two Senators. Make a difference, not an excuse.
On January 6, 2025, there will be a joint session to count the electoral votes. But before that takes place, there must be another Declaration of Illegitimacy. For that which we call despotism by any other name would still reek. And someone must rise to clear the air.
We, therefore, the Senators and Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name and by authority of the good people of this nation, solemnly publish and declare, that they are absolved from allegiance to the gentleman from New York, that all political connection between them is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that he cannot hold office unless a two-thirds vote of each House shall remove such disability.
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.
