Guess What? Elon Musk Targeted Me by Name in a Tweet this Morning [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

When the biggest billionaire in the world targets you… you know you’re doing something right.

This morning, Elon Musk tweeted:

”Since when do failed progressives like Rock (that’s me :) find the wherewithall to start meaningless dialogue on climate change? it will fail just like he did. The Climate Fund won’t stop us. He better be happy we allow free speech on this platform”

Let’s break this down. Musk’s disparaging comments about The Climate Fund reveal something important: accountability scares them. I can’t see another reason why Elon would decide to target us.

The Climate Fund’s mission is clear—we’re going to be here to hold powerful figures like Musk and others accountable for their actions (or lack thereof) when it comes to addressing the climate crisis and their threats to democracy. We’re keeping track of their records and ensuring that future generations have the tools to resist climate aggression. And quite clearly, they don’t like that.

What The Climate Fund Is All About

Elon, in case you’re reading this, let me say again what we are for. The Climate Fund is setup to be a think tank and advocacy organization that is deeply committed to taking up the fight against the climate crisis head-on.

While The Climate Fund is proudly led by Gen Z, it is not exclusively for Gen Z. We welcome contributions, ideas, and involvement from all generations. Tackling the climate crisis requires the collective wisdom, resources, and energy of everyone—young and old alike. Like it or not, we are all in this together.

Here's how we're doing it:

Holding Climate Aggressors Accountable : We're documenting every climate aggression, particularly from the incoming Trump administration and its allies, and shining a light on those who continue to jeopardize our planet's future.

Empowering Youth : Through partnerships with organizations like the Sunrise Movement, we’re training the next generation of activists to lead the charge for a sustainable future.

Advancing Climate Solutions : Using the latest research—including my Master's thesis focused on carbon farming—we have been working with state and local leaders on the actual implementation of policies that incentivize a carbon sequestration set of solutions among others.

Empowering Climate-Smart Leaders: We are working on bringing into office and further supporting those leaders who finally have a serious approach towards tackling the climate crisis.

This isn’t about ego or political posturing. It’s about creating a movement that will outlast any one person, billionaire, or administration. Musk’s tweet is a distraction—a poorly veiled attempt to dismiss the real work we’re doing.

Why This Matters

Billionaires like Musk and other corporations making money from their climate abuse and inaction have a serious conflict of interest with organizations such as The Climate Fund because, in their hearts, they know if people can get organized, educate themselves, and fight back, real change could be possible. The louder they attack, the more resonance that gives us—we know we're touching a nerve. And if Musk actually thinks that firing us will stop us from working, he is sadly mistaken. If anything, his tweet is a rallying cry: it is a sign that we are doing precisely what needs to be done—shining light on the actions and inactions of those who hold the most power and influence.

Elon Musk’s criticism also underscores the power of inclusivity. If Musk thinks dismissing us will stop our work, he’s sorely mistaken. By involving diverse voices, from seasoned activists to young leaders, we ensure that our fight is both innovative and grounded in experience. Join us.

How You Can Help

We can't let critiques of powerful people stand in our way; we must allow it to fuel us. The Climate Fund has only just begun, and we need your help to expand our work. Here's how you can join the fight in the first place:

Donate : Help us build more of our work and have the resources to hold those in power accountable. secure.actblue.com/...

Spread the Word : Recommend this article and Musk's tweet far and wide. Let's make sure everyone knows why he's so worried.

Get Involved: Feel free to get into contact with me if you have any ideas, comments, or concerns about what were doing. I’d like to think the Climate Fund is a brainchild of my former Congressional Campaign and the DK family. We’re all in this together.

That's Musk's tweet, other than a setback—validation. They're scared of what we're building, and they should be. Together, we will make sure their days of unchecked climate destruction are behind them. Let’s keep moving forward. The future depends on it.
