Earlier today my wife told me she thought it was funny that on Donald Trump’s inauguration day the flags in Washington will still be at half staff as it is our tradition with the passing of a former president to fly the flags in Washington at half-staff for a full month.
I told I told her that was more of a guideline, that just because that has been a strong Washington tradition doesn’t mean Donald Trump will honor it.
She told me they wouldn’t dare disrespect Jimmy Carter that way; as if it would be too politically costly.
I reminded her once again to quit believing that there is a floor to their depravity. Quit believing that there’s any norm or law that they won’t trample over. In fact, the more outrageous the prospect of something, the more certain I become Donald Trump will do it.
