How a lack of shame could bite the GOP in the ass over Mark Robinson [1]

Once upon a time it used to be that there was such a thing as shame for the GOP as we saw with Nixon but those days are long gone now. Now it seems like there’s nothing you can do to shame them, the idea that such blatant ethics violations of judges Thomas and Alito wouldn’t have shamed them into stepping down would’ve seemed unthinkable decades ago but now it’s become the new norm. But right now the parallel i’m thinking of the most is Roy Moore in Alabama, once it came out that he trolled the local mall for underage girls in the 70s that should’ve been the end of his campaign but he doubled down and the GOP still supported him, fortunately he did not win and i’m hoping that Mark Robinson will meet a similar fate.



The release of all of this damning info about Robinson is no accident, the GOP clearly knew about his past but once they saw he was potentially hurting Drumpf’s chances of winning NC they strategically released the info one day before the deadline for him to drop out, no doubt hoping Robinson would be too embarrassed to stay in the race(as someone who is vocally against trans people being caught secretly professing his love for jerking it to trans porn isn’t a great look for the GOP)and drop out to be replaced with a still-vile but less vocally repugnant rethug like Pat “Bathroom bill” McCrory. But the GOP doubling down on the sort of thing that would’ve absolutely ended a dems career, nowhere is this more stark then the discovery that Robinson was on Ashley Madison-a site for people cheating on their spouses, an extra-marital affair ended Gary Hart’s presidential campaign in 1988(and many thought he had a much better shot of winning then Dukakis did)but adultery is barely a blip on the radar for the GQP at this point.



However the deadline passed and Robinson is saying he has no intention of dropping out of the race because why would he? I’m sure he’s been offered “favors” if he drops out but i’m sure Twisted Family Robinson has done the math and decided he has more to gain by staying in the race, after all even if he loses he can always find some TV program or podcast or something desperate enough for a token black conservative and grift money that way. The GOP has made lack of shame a positive thing for it’s voting base(which we’re seeing with Vance outright admitting on national TV that he lied about the whole “eating cats and dogs” thing because he wanted to “get attention”) and now it may be coming back to bite them in the ass as Robinson was already doing poorly BEFORE the scandal broke and now there’s a very good chance he could drag down agent orange with him and cost TFG NC and any chance TFG had of winning the election. The rabid mob that is the MAGAwhackos has become too out of control for the higher-ups in the GOP to control anymore(which we’re seeing with this ridiculous showdown over government funding that even Mitch McTurtle is saying is “stupid”)and Robinson is one monster that could and hopefully will cause the downfall of the GOP or at least the start of one.
