The Zoo in Tampa always attracts some of the local wildlife who decide to move in and make themselves comfty.
Some photos.
For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. I am currently wintering in Florida.
The Elephant paddock. If you look close you can see a Kestrel perched near the top of that tree trunk.
Zooming in.
A White Ibis drops in at the South African Penguin pool ...
While another White Ibis helps himself to some Flamingo food ...
And another one naps inside the Alligator enclosure
Meanwhile, these two were begging food from the tourists
This Great Egret was hunting for lizards in the Bald Eagle enclosure
A portrait
The Eagles kept a sharp eye on him as he helped himself to their water pan
A couple of duckies in the moat of the Mandrill enclosure
A Southern Toad in one of the picnic areas. He’d better be careful—I have seen Racer Snakes in that spot.
The Zoo’s drainage pond is a favorite hangout for the locals:
Little Blue Heron

Anhinga
Great Blue Heron
A subadult Alligator—about four feet long. He’s been living here for a long while.
Red-Bellied Turtle, covered with Duckweed
Oddly, I did not see any Turkey Vultures at the zoo—they usually inundate the place every winter. I think perhaps the unusually warm weather up north has delayed their migration, and they haven’t moved down to Florida yet.
