Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
I like revolutionary songs but still am OK with national anthems. I always stand for them and seem to like the end of Formula One races where the podium awarding of trophies is preceded by playing the winning driver’s national anthem as well as the constructor’s national anthem. Lots of Red Bulls in Austria.
Le Temps des cerises (French: [lə tɑ̃ de səʁiz], The Time of Cherries) is a song written in France in 1866, with words by Jean-Baptiste Clément and music by Antoine Renard, extremely famous in French-speaking countries. The song was later strongly associated with the Paris Commune, during which verses were added to the song, thus becoming a revolutionary song. The "Time of Cherries" is a metaphor regarding what life will be like when a revolution will have changed social and economic conditions. It is believed to be dedicated by the writer to a nurse who fought in the Semaine Sanglante ("Bloody Week") when French government troops overthrew the commune.[1] x x YouTube Video
I had a teacher in high school who was in the international brigades that fought for the Spanish Republic in the Spanish Civil War as a part of the International Brigades.
