Covid Brain: Did Human (un)Civilization Just Get Dementia? [1]

I just can’t help but remark at how different society looks these days, anecdotally, statistically, demographically — by any measure you care to take, it seems like all across the globe we see societies becoming less tolerant, less patient, less sensible, less coherent. As Covid swept across the globe and I sat watching from the relative comfort of a pretty hermetic situation, it seemed like everyone around me was losing their minds. Granted, I’ve never had much problem being alone and working on my hobbies, so for a while I just chalked it up to dull people going a bit stir crazy. One of my teachers always said that being bored was the product of a boring person.
But then it just never stopped. It seemed to actually get worse after the pandemic restrictions were lifted. And then now we’re all reading about how Covid affects the brain, the vascular system, how it tears apart the immune system and ages people possibly by decades. And I sit and I watch and I say to myself:
“Yeah, I’ve seen these symptoms before.”
I think many of us have.
So, one has to ask themselves, did Mother Nature just send humanity their past due notice? Is this how we go down? Is this going to be the slow drawn out decline or the fast moving variety?
It’s like everyone has entered their second childhoods. And then last night, I read about how wasting disease is taking over the deer population in Yellowstone, creating dead eyed drooling zombies. Scientists are quietly starting to wonder if this is going to be Mad Cow all over again. Is Mother Nature setting up the dementia kill shot? Or was Covid all she really needed in the end to rid herself of us via our own animalistic self-destructive behavior?
If humanity was a single human being, did we just get dementia?
I dunno. So, all I can say is: keep your distance folks. Keep your distance from these anti-vax freaks… if you value your grey matter even a little bit.
