Covid Advice [1]

A bit more advice for if/when you get Covid: One of the typical issues is sore throat and coughing. I started coughing Thanksgiving Evening, didn’t bother to test until the next morning, and wasn’t surprised when I saw that it was positive. I coughed a whole lot and my throat got worse over the next two days. My sister reminded me of the therapy I had told her about.
Get liquid children’s Benadryl or generic equivalent. Take a small dose in the dose cup, and gargle it, and then swallow it. The pain will start going down very quickly. Every couple of hours, repeat this — you’re doing a children’s dose, and you’re not going to be driving anyway. After a couple of days, repeat whenever you start coughing again. The coughing should slow down a lot, and the sore throat will be a lot calmer. After two days, I was still keeping lozenges close, but I was down to two doses of the Benadryl a day.
I learned this trick from a doc in the box when I had the flu and was crying with the pain of coughing and sore throat. When I read about the typical symptoms for Covid, I bought the stuff and kept it in my cupboard when I wasn’t handing it out to friends. Glad I still had some, it was a life-saver.
