The Romp of the Facebook Robots [1]

I offer this diary in the spirit of a public service announcement. Facebook deleted my account on November 28 because someone attached a miscreant Instagram account to it, but I am not alone. It's a weird thing that seems to have affected thousands of random Facebook people, and there's no obvious cure or prevention. I discovered a Reddit group that is 9800 strong as of this posting, and the group grows by hundreds every week:
It's a Kafkaesque situation, with Facebook support almost non-existent. Some people do get their accounts back, but it’s unclear if anything they did helped. Some people get their account back, only to have it deleted again days, weeks, or months later.
Many people describe losing business pages and conversations with friends and customers—if you read the Reddit comments you’ll see the depths of despair.
My theory, for what it’s worth: Facebook AI algorithm robots are race ahead of Facebook technicians, and they can’t keep up with the wrongfully terminated.
I recommend downloading any Facebook photos or conversations you want to keep, and seek out email addresses and phone numbers of people you want to keep in touch with. It could all vanish in the blink of an eye.
