What has happened to Matt Taibbi? [1]

Does anyone know what has happened to Matt Taibbi?

My question is not snarky or rhetorical. I used to admire Taibbi’s sharp take on (for example) financial crooks. He was always an interesting read.

But it seems to me that in recent years he has gone around the bend, and now appears to be endlessly whining about people who are woke, Twitter files, moderators he deems to be evil censors — it is a long list.

Is he getting paid by someone or what? Seriously. Has anyone done a deep enough dive on Taibbi to enlighten me?
