I have been studying my genealogy over the past few years, and from time to time, I find a remote cousin who made a name for him/her/themself through some level of achievement. I’ve done this three time before. First was Anna Maria Sadilek, who was the woman on whom Willa Cather based the title character of her novel My Antonìa; the next was Freidrich August Kekule, who, like me, was a chemist, but unlike me, gained fame as the person who deduced the correct structure of the benzene molecule; third was Hugo Koehler, a Naval officer during World War I who became an spy, and then a diplomat, and then, by marrying divorcee Matilda Bigalow Pell, became future Senator Clayborne Pell’s stepfather.
Tonight’s subject is, Like Koehler, a distant cousin from a wealthier branch of the family. Here’s a brief biography from Wikipedia:
