Why are no Democrats speaking up about Virginia Delegate Sam Rasoul and his prejudiced hate speech? [1]

Imagine this scenario:
An act of violence occurs
A right-wing elected official immediately tweets that Black people did it
Progressives express outrage that someone would jump to this conclusion without any evidence
Leading investigative bodies find overwhelming evidence that others were responsible
The right-wing politician -- who feels that Black people have wronged his people -- refuses to apologize or retract his tweet, saying “no one can definitely refute” that Black people did it
Other right-wing politicians say silent, refusing to call him out for his words
That’s what we are experiencing in Virginia, but the roles are different. The politician is a Democratic member of the General Assembly, Sam Rasoul. On October 17, he tweeted that the Israelis bombed Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, and he called it a “war crime.” Within days U.S. intelligence agencies concluded with “high confidence” that Israel was not responsible – and this was underscored by President Biden. Yet Rasoul has continually refused to retract for or apologize for his tweet, saying that “no one can definitely refute” his claim that Israelis did it.
Not a single Democratic member of the Virginia General Assembly has called out Rasoul for this extremely dangerous accusation, based on nothing but his personal prejudice. This is not going to go away. We cannot tolerate this kind of prejudice and hate in our party. Someone has to say something.
